Art Services Designed for Seniors to Create and Connect
ABOUT US
ArtHeart Connect, LLC it’s a mobile art service created for seniors, established in 2020. Our founder, Maria Lord is an artist who obtained her BFA from The Fashion Institute of Technology. For many years she worked in the fashion industry designing mostly patterns and embellishment and also as a design consultant.
Her personal experience of being the primary caregiver for her grandmother and father, who has Alzheimer’s disease helped her learn about the needs of seniors and inspired her to create this service. As an artist, she always incorporated artistic activities in their schedule and noticed that creative projects helped them redirect their focus and changed their mood, especially when feeling discouraged or sad. She also experienced the benefits that community and inclusion had on seniors. These life experiences motivated her to start a service that helped seniors in creative ways.
OUR MISSION
ArtHeart Connect, LLC was created with the purpose of improving the emotional wellbeing of seniors by providing them with mobile art classes that are strategically designed for senior groups depending on their artistic needs. In addition to art classes, we find creative ways of connecting seniors with their families, peers and communities through their artwork.
We believe that the use of expression through art, inclusion and community has a tremendous impact in the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of seniors, which ultimately affects their quality of life. In addition to providing them with art classes that promote self- expression, we encourage the use of their artwork as a medium to connect with their families and communities. We strongly believe in the emotional benefits that creating and sharing produces and this is what we aim to provide our clients.
OUR METHOD
Our creative sessions vary depending on the needs of the group of clients we work with. We strategically create an activity plan for each session that promotes self-expression, team work and inclusion. We strongly believe in journaling as an effective tool for self-expression, this is an activity we try to incorporate in each of our sessions when applicable.
We help seniors create and encourage them to give their creations as gifts, by doing so using their art work as a medium for socialization. We require a minimum of 8 participants per session. The sessions are recommended to take place a minimum of once a week. Art supplies are provided by us to work on each session. We strongly believe our program strategy benefits the quality of life of seniors and it is a pleasure for us to be part of this movement.

This creative program uses art as a medium to connect seniors with people in their families and communities. It provides seniors not only with the benefits that creative activity promotes, it also helps them to integrate socially by sharing their work with others.
